Well I’m sitting here waiting for the paint to dry on a commission I’m doing for a dear friend of the family so I thought I’d take a moment and update my blog.
This has been a busy week for us. On Monday Ilene worked at the local Food Pantry while I worked on preliminary sketches and colors for Barbara’s painting. That’s after we dropped Bella off at the kennel and picked up a rental car.
Yes, a rental car because at 5 AM on Tuesday we drove 800 miles to Linden, TN where we stayed overnight at a nice old hotel, The Commodore Hotel. We had an appointment the next morning in Hohenwald, TN about 30 minutes away to tour the Oliver Travel Trailers factory.
Since we came off the road in December and sold our 40 foot diesel pusher we new we’d be downsizing to a bumper-pull travel trailer, we just weren’t sure which one we’d choose. After a long and somewhat exhaustive search we found JUST what we were looking for; an Oliver Legacy Elite II.
Travel has always been a good part of our lives and to that end, this 24 foot trailer, good for all four seasons, was just the thing. We’ll be able to wally dock, boondock, and get into state and national parks that couldn’t accommodate a 40 foot motorhome. It’s got built-in solar panels and is wired for “off-grid” living.
Off-grid living means finding out of the way places to paint, draw, and photograph. It also means having the social life we enjoy by RVing—meeting nice people around the USA and Canada. I’ll just have to figure out what painting and sketching materials will fit into our smaller temporary home.
So I’m waiting for the paint to dry so I can add the next layer to Barb’s painting. Ilene took lots of photos on our trip to Tennessee and I’m sure a few will end up as painting or sketches.
Announcing!
Ilene and I are planning on opening up Etsy stores. She’ll be putting up her magnificent photographs and I’ll be putting up my paintings and sketches for sale as prints and some of my original art as well. As soon as they’re up and running we’ll add the links to our websites.
BTW, Ilene’s current website is: http://ileneshafer.com go check it.
Until next time. Now go make some art!
