Watching the Raindrops Fall

We were originally scheduled to leave Texan RV Park here in Athens, TX for The Vineyard at Fredericksburg RV Park this morning. Weather, however, can be a bit fickle in this part of the world this time of year and right now we’re still in Athens watching the raindrops fall.

The RVing Lifestyle Can Mean Flexibility

One of the nice things about the RVing Lifestyle, and being retired, is the flexibility to not have take chances when it comes to road conditions. The forecast for our destination is for thunderstorms.  Along with thunderstorms come hail, high winds, and the possibility of tornadoes. I’ve got over forty years of aviation experience not only flying but also learning to read the weather. So reading the weather today and for the next two days we decided to stay put until the weather gets a bit better.

Fortunately the park here isn’t full as the conference and training are over until next week. Even so, I know the nice people here would have no problem accommodating us for two more days.

Our contact at The Vineyards, Courtney, called and was gracious enough to just slide our monthly rent two days rather than charge us for today and tomorrow. These are the kind of people we like to do business with!

So what do you do when you’re watching the raindrops fall?

That’s a great question! Many RVers use rainy days to clean out the coach, 5ver or travel trailer. It’s also not a bad time to clean out the refrigerator and/or freezer. We have hundreds of photographs from my mother and father that we scan into digital on days like today.

Listening to, and watching the raindrops fall is a great time to get caught up on your reading, writing or artwork. If your RV has an electric fireplace, it’s a great time to cuddle up with your fur baby or significant other. It’s also a great time to watch an old classic movie or a newer film rented from Redbox.

If the weather’s not too bad, we might take in a movie or find a local happy hour. Whatever you do it’s nice to know you’re safe and not rushed.

So if you’re living the RVing Lifestyle don’t push the weather and don’t be in a big hurry. Take life as it comes and enjoy the journey!

Until next time: Safe Travels!
